Current Book Selection: Glorious Exploits by Ferdia Lennon
According to Goodreads it is "an utterly original celebration of that which binds humanity across battle lines and history." Set on the island of Sicily during the Peloponnesian War, Syracusans decide to work with Athenian prisoners of war to put on a production of "Medea," in honor of their great playwright Euripides. This novel, told in a modern Irish voice, is both comedic and poignant. It delves into the importance of art during war times and people's ability to preserve and find common threads that hold them together, even in the most trying circumstances.
