The Greenbox Program is designed to eliminate waste from to-go containers at the dining halls. The containers, green plastic clamshells, are available to all students and faculty who want to take their food on the go.
Each student is given a credit at the beginning of the semester to check one out. If your clamshell is not returned, then you will be required to pay $10 for each new one you check out, which will be returned if/when your clamshell is returned.
Greenboxes may be returned to Frank, Frary and SCC. Additionally, we have conveniently placed smart return bins across campus for easy returns at any time of the day. If the bin light is red, please be advised it is at full capacity and needs to be returned in person to the dining hall 鈥 or visit another smart bin.
For a meal to go, bring the container with you and swipe your card at the cashier like a regular meal. To-go meals should not contain excessive amounts of any one item. Dining staff may inspect the container contents to ensure compliance with this policy. You are not permitted to eat in the dining hall and take out food. Doing so will revoke your privilege for to-go meals. The containers are provided for meals to be taken and eaten outside of the dining halls. Clamshells are intended for all food items, and they need to be able to close fully for safety reasons. To-go cups are intended for beverage items only and soup, not food items.
If you plan to eat in the dining hall and also have a container to return, you must return your container to the cashier when presenting your card for your meal swipe. Please remember to rinse and clean your container before returning it to the dining hall.
All other dishes, such as cups, trays, and utensils, must remain in the dining hall.
In order to meet City health code and sanitation standards, the use of personal reusable containers, including cups of any type, are not allowed.
