The ID1 Paper Prize recognizes and rewards excellent student writing in ID1. The prize is awarded to two or three students whose essays exemplify the highest level of academic achievement in ID1. Students who receive the prize receive a small cash award, a student-faculty event celebrating the prize recipients, and recognition on the Writing Program website and in the following year’s Convocation program. Winning papers are published in FIVE: The Claremont Colleges Journal of Undergraduate Academic Writing.
Faculty nominate students at the end of the fall semester. In the spring, Writing Program faculty and Writing Partners evaluate and select the winning essays. Students are awarded their prize the following fall.
