Child Care

  • Childcare subsidy
    Dependent care assistance on a sliding scale based on employee's current annual gross salary.
  • Commencement Daycare
    The Dean's Office provides daycare at a local preschool for the children of faculty and staff on Commencement day.
  • Priority-Access Daycare
    Â鶹ӰÊÓ has developed an arrangement with the Claremont United Church of Christ, Congregational, Early Childhood Center. For more information, please contact the Office of Human Resources at x18175.

Domestic Partner Program

  • Provides eligible domestic partner and dependent(s) certain benefits such as health insurance, home purchase loan with eligible faculty member, undergraduate tuition aid, and user privileges at the libraries of The Claremont Colleges and at Rains Center.

Faculty Housing

  • Rental Units
    Â鶹ӰÊÓ owns a small number of houses near the campus, primarily for rental to incoming faculty. There is a six-year occupancy limit.
  • Faculty Mortgage
    Assistant professors, associate professors and (full) professors are eligible for a faculty home loan immediately upon signing a multi-year contract with the College. Instructors and Visiting Faculty are not eligible for a faculty home loan.

Parental/Family Leave Policies

  • Faculty Paid Parental Leave Policy
    The Â鶹ӰÊÓ Paid Parental Leave Time policy provides a maximum of one semester of paid leave time, at 100% of salary, to faculty experiencing the event of a birth or adoption.
  • Family Medical Leave – Federal (FMLA) and State (CFRA)
    Time-off without pay for the purpose of caring for a newborn or newly-adopted child, caring for a critically-ill member of the family,  or caring for the employee's own illness (please refer to the Faculty Handbook [pdf] for more information).
  • Paid Family Leave (PFL)
    Partial wage compensation to care for seriously ill child, spouse, parent or registered domestic partner, or to bond with newborn or newly-adopted child (please refer to the Faculty Handbook [pdf] for more information).
  • Pregnancy Disability
    Income supplement and job protection for up to four (4) months (please refer to the Faculty Handbook [pdf] for more information).

Tuition Remission

  • Undergraduate tuition remission
    Undergraduate tuition assistance for dependents up to 50% of tuition not to exceed 50% of the college's tuition. For more information, please contact the Office of Human Resources at x18175.

Work/Life Programs


  • The Physical Education Department and Human Resources Office at Â鶹ӰÊÓ recognize that work site culture and environment are powerful influences that can encourage and support employees in living healthy lifestyles. The mission of the Faculty/Staff Fitness and Wellness program is to increase awareness of healthy lifestyle behaviors and to provide convenient and attractive opportunities to practice these healthy lifestyle behaviors.  Toward this end, the FSFW program strives to provide a wide array of fitness and wellness opportunities in an effort to maximize employee participation.
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
    The EAP provides psychological counseling and referral for employees and their dependents through a network of psychiatrists, psychologists, and certified family counselors.  This benefit is paid fully by the College.  In addition, EAP sessions (such as team-building, conflict resolution, dealing with addictive behavior and others) have been incorporated in College quality-of-work-life programs.  For more information, please contact the Office of Human Resources at x18175.
  • Ergonomic Work Station Analysis
    Consultation regarding office equipment placement and accommodations for employee use.  For more information, please contact the Environmental Health and Safety Officer, Sean Young.
  • Trip Reduction Incentive Plan (TRiP)
    The rideshare program includes cash and in-kind incentives for carpool participants, as well as transit subsidy.  For more information, please contact the Office of Human Resources at x18175.

  • Faculty and their dependents may use the center free of charge.

  • Faculty dependents, spouses, and domestic partners receive borrowing privileges upon request.
  • Other benefits
    Athletic events; Free coffee, tea, and soft drinks at the Coop Fountain. Discount tickets to local movie theatres available through Smith Campus Center; and Free parking!
