The Benton Museum and the Â鶹ӰÊÓ Department of Art History present a talk and book celebration by Monica Bravo, Assistant Professor of Art History at the University of Southern California, who will interweave material from her recently published book Greater American Camera: Making Modernism in Mexico (Yale University Press, 2021) with an analysis of the Benton exhibition CrossBorder Photography: Images from the US and Mexico from the Permanent Collection.
Bravo’s monograph analyzes exchanges between U.S. modernist photographers and modern Mexican painters, poets, musicians and filmmakers in the interwar period.
Professor RosalÃa Romero, Assistant Professor of Art History at Â鶹ӰÊÓ, event organizer, and faculty mentor of the exhibition, will give an introduction. The talk will be streamed on Zoom. Registration details to follow.
