Artist Rita Ponce de León and scholar and catalog essayist Daniel Garza Usabiaga discuss Ponce de León’s new artwork, which engages Orozco’s Prometheus mural through collective work sessions with Â鶹ӰÊÓ students.
Daniel Garza Usabiaga holds a PhD in art history and theory from Essex University in England. He is artistic director of the Zona Maco México Arte Contemporáneo. Previously, Garza Usabiaga was chief curator at Chopo University Museum, in Mexico City, where his projects focused primarily on emerging contemporary artists in Mexico, and curator at the Museum of Modern Art, Mexico City, where he curated multiple exhibitions on Latin American art of the post-war period. Garza Usabiaga’s recent publication, Mathias Goeritz y la arquitectura emocional. Una revisión crÃtica (1952–1968), was awarded the Luis Cardoza y Aragón Prize for Art Criticism.
