Art After Hours is pleased to host Museum Collecting 101 final presentations. This semester a class of Pomona students formed an acquisition committee to choose a work of art by a contemporary artist for the 鶹Ӱ Museum of Art’s permanent collection. After weeks of investigation, discussion, and always mindful of their budget, the committee narrowed their choices to work by four artists—Genevieve Gaignard, Frohawk Two Feathers, April Bey, and Enrique Chagoya. They divided into teams to further explore the work of each artist. After meeting with the artist, either in the gallery or studio, each team determined which works to propose for acquisition. You are invited to the team presentations in which they advocate for “their” art work to join our collection.
Join us to see whom they have chosen and hear about their experiences. They welcome your comments and input in a straw poll following the presentations. The final decision rests with the committee of Museum Collecting 101 who will cast their votes on the last day of class.
