12 pm Lecture by Los Angeles-based artist, John D. O'Brien, "Reflections on Mirella Bentivoglio" in Lebus Court 113. O'Brien will present a discussion of Bentivolgio's work in the context of the late-twentieth-century Italian art world.

About John D. O'Brien
O'Brien works as an artist in sculpture (studio and public art), installation and drawing. In his ongoing work, he creates new and site specific artwork for gallery/project exhibitions. He has completed public art features at the Mar Vista Branch and Westwood Brach Libraries, at Sepulveda Park West, at the L.A. Riverfront Park, at the Lorcan O'Herlihy Habitat 825 building and at the MTA Central Valley Balboa Station in Los Angeles, as well as the Judge John Aiso Plaza in downtown L.A. O'Brien has degrees in studio art (MFA) from the University of Southern California with an emphasis in 3D work and degrees (AA.BB.) from the Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma, Rome (Magistero) the Istituto Statale D'Arte di Urbino, Urbino and (Master Printer) the Calcografia Nazionale (National Etching Institute), Rome Italy for drawing and printmaking. Aside from his own work as an artist and educator, O'Brien has been involved in curating, art writing, and art event organizing. He has written about the arts consistently since 1984.
