College Provided Transportation Options

The college provides a number of transportation options to get you around in the Los Angeles area.  All vehicles require advanced reservations, so please remember to plan ahead.

The Sagecoach (34 passenger bus)

As of Jan 1st, 2025 the following rates will be in place for Â鶹ӰÊÓ Staff, Faculty and Student groups taking trips on the Sagecoach.

$40/hour including 1 hour before the start of the trip to complete the required Safety Inspection. This includes a properly licensed, professional driver.

$3.00/mile based on the roundtrip mileage of the trip.

Please fill out the Reservation Form below to request a trip. Please have the dates, times, destination, name and cell for the day of trip contact and the Workday account number to charge when filling out the form.

***Please make reservations at least two weeks in advance.

The Sagecoach is a 34 passenger bus, including the driver, and offers an ADA compliant lift. The amount of passengers goes down to 31 with a wheelchair passenger.

College Vehicles (The Sagehen Shuttle (7-passengers))

  • For use by registered student organizations on official business/activities only
  • You must be an approved College driver to use vehicles (for information on becoming an approved student driver, contact Brenda Schmit.)
  • Fees: $0.75/mile (up to $75 maximum charge)
  • Reservation form found on Engage (under the "Campus Links" tab, select "SCC Forms")

Zip Car

  • Can be checked out for any reason
  • Zipcars are located in the following parking lots: Harrison, Sumner and Tranquada Center
  • You must create a Zipcar account first
  • Fees: $25-35 annual fee, hourly rates from $7, daily rates from $48

Green Bikes

  • Cars not your thing? Rent a bike for a semester!
  • Have a bike that needs repair? Come to the Green Bikes shop and pay only for parts, no labor charge!

Public Transportation Options

In addition to the above resources, there are a number of Public Transportation options available to students.

  • Foothill Transit - local bus system
    • Students, faculty, and staff at any of The Claremont Colleges get free rides on Foothill Transit buses! Visit  for more details!
