Conglomerate Objects
On view: September 12 – October 14, 2016
Opening Reception: September 12, 2016 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.
The Chan Gallery of the Â鶹ӰÊÓ Art Department is pleased to announce Conglomerate Objects, an exhibition featuring works by Tanya Aguiñiga, Michael O’Malley, William Ransom, Cammie Staros, and Ryan Taber.
The artists in this exhibition use various materials to meticulously craft their objects of anthropological intrigue that teeter in an uncertain space or get tethered to a surface locking them into place. The individual works represent a conflation of two or more cultures with sources dating from the Pleistocene Age, through Classical Antiquity and the Modern Age, into the futurism of Science Fiction. Yet, regardless of what age the works are drawn from, they bring together generally disparate cultures merging them into one conglomerate object.
